In the beginning...

धर्मेच अर्थेच कामेच मोक्षेच भरतर्षभ
यदिहास्ति तदन्यत्र यन्नेहास्ति न कुत्रचित्।।

"Once upon a time....." these words have always been close to my heart. When i was a toddler they signalled a start of a something exciting and my heart has been beating for stories since. I am indebted for the accident of my birth into a family of story tellers. We all love a good story and look to find alternative meanings and debate it out to our hearts content.

The story that has a special place in my heart was always Mahabharata. I have read multiple renditions, watched every episode and have given a considerable thought to it. This blog puts forth my thoughts on the epic, the characters, their motivations and my takeaways from each of these. But i strongly believe in the shloka this blog starts with and hence this will be the all encompassing guide to all posts hereon.

"Of ethics, economics, pleasure, and liberation. Whatever is found in this epic (Mahabharat), may be found elsewhere, but what is not found here will be impossible to find anywhere else."
